So you REALLY don't want to spend your vacation in a van... Join us for this exciting expedition to one of the most remote areas of Alaska. The only van you'll be in is the one that takes you from your hotel to the Lake Hood sea plane base on the morning of Day 1. Most of Lake Clark National Park is accessible only by air, we'll enjoy a spectacular float plane flight and land at a remote alpine lake deep in the park. The flight alone makes this trip unforgettable. We'll spend the week exploring alpine lakes, climbing mountains, fishing and looking for brown bear, caribou and moose. |

Adventure Details Day 1 - We'll pick you up at your hotel and, after a gear check we'll head to the world's busiest Sea Plane Base; Lake Hood in Anchorage. Here we'll board a float plane for the spectacular flight into the park. After crossing Cook Inlet we'll fly up and over huge glaciers and mountain ranges as we make our way to a high alpine lake deep in the park. We'll set up a comfortable base camp from which we can explore the surrounding lakes, mountains and valleys. Days 2 - 6 - One of the great things about a base camp is that we can enjoy long days of hiking with lightweight day packs, as opposed to lugging 60 pound packs through the trail-less terrain of the park. We may move our camp at some point during the week, opening up new areas to explore. In addition to day hikes we can enjoy fishing, exceptional photographic opportunities, some boating and hopefully wildlife viewing. Day 7 - We're picked up by our float plane for the return trip to Anchorage. Hot showers & pizza! |
