Planning a vacation in Alaska for your family can be a daunting task. Let us take care of the details in advance, and let our Guides handle your logistics once you're here so you can relax and enjoy your valuable holiday time.
Here are a couple of sample trips to give you some ideas. They can be easily modified with additional nights spent indoors, ice climbing instead of glacier trekking, adding or subtracting number of days...whatever you like.
Family Vacation 2
This is a fairly moderate trip that takes you from spectacular coastal areas to Denali National Park. Great opportunities to look for wildlife and most nights are in developed campgrounds. A good option for folks new to the outdoors.
DAY 1 - Meet in Anchorage and enjoy a spectacular drive to the coastal town of Seward, stopping for a hike along the way.
DAY 2 - A wildlife and glacier viewing cruise. Spend the day looking for whales, seals, sea otters and more.
DAY 3 - Travel back north, stopping for great views and a hike before dinner in Anchorage at our favorite gourmet pizza spot. Regroup in a historic inn for the night.
DAY 4 - Walk on a glacier. Spend the day exploring the amazing Matanuska. Enjoy an Alaska-style barbecue at our homestead for the evening.
DAY 5 - Talkeetna is the town people think of when they imagine Alaska. Enjoy a beautiful drive to this quirky and historic town. Take an optional flight seeing trip before settling in to a historic inn for the night.
DAY 6 - Continue north to Denali Park. Enjoy a hike after setting up in a campground near the park entrance.
DAY 7 - The bus is the best way to look for wildlife in the park and enjoy the awesome scenery.
DAY 8 - Return to Anchorage, stopping to meet some sled dogs on the way.
Accommodation: 2 nights in an inn, 5 nights in a campground.
Cost: $8,800 for a family of 4.
Family Vacation 1
This trip is great for the adventurous family with some outdoor experience. Some backcountry time out in the "real" Alaska but a couple of nights in an inn to regroup.
DAY 1 - Meet in Anchorage and enjoy a spectacular drive to Whittier to start a 3-day sea kayaking trip in Prince William Sound. We'll use a water taxi in both directions to get out to the great areas.
DAY 2 - Continue sea kayaking.
DAY 3 - A short paddle before getting picked up by water taxi for the ride back to town. Pizza and a night in a comfortable inn as a reward!
DAY 4 - Walk on a glacier. Spend the day exploring the amazing Matanuska. Enjoy an Alaska-style barbecue at our homestead for the evening.

DAY 6 - You're up early to board a jet boat for an exciting ride upstream to a beautiful, isolated spot on the river. Time for a little relaxation and fishing.
DAY 7 - We'll raft back down to Talkeetna. A great way to travel and look for wildlife. .
DAY 8 - Return to Anchorage, stopping to meet some sled dogs on the way.
Accommodation: 2 nights in an inn, 2 nights in a campground, 3 nights in the backcountry.
Cost: $10,800 for a family of 4.
