| Your visit to the Denali Area | ||
Everyone has heard about Denali and it certainly is a jewel of the National Park System. It’s been called the “Serengetti of North America” but it can sometimes feel like the Disneyland of Alaska. LOTS of people go to the small part of the park that is accessible by road. Restrictions on guided activities within the park help keep it wild, but do limit what we can do there with our guests. Reputable companies will advise you of these restrictions and follow the park regulations. Denali National Park is beautiful, but your visit there will be unlike the rest of your trip with us. You will definitely feel like a typical tourist so might as well just embrace it! Enjoy seeing animals from the bus, check out the sled dogs, buy some gifts. After working in the area for 10 years, we’ve made a few changes to our Denali trips and come up with a new addition that we’re very excited about. Our Maximum Exposure trip now includes a little more hiking and a little less riding, and we’ve added a stop at the beautiful Denali State Park. The new Extreme Plus includes riding the bus in Denali, a great chance to safely view wildlife. But we’ve found that our typical guests do not enjoy riding the bus for 8 hours or more, so you’ll ride the bus for a ½ day then go whitewater rafting to wake up afterwards! We also include challenging day hikes and backpacking outside of the National Park boundaries. Remember, that the National Park borders are lines on a map not recognized by the wildlife, mountains, or spectacular scenery. While Alaska does boast some of the largest National
Parks, most of the State is just…Alaska. Wild and uninhabited. We
know some great spots in the Denali area and elsewhere and would love
to share them with you.
