Expedition Support Details

Get to Talkeetna the day after arriving in Anchorage

Do you want to climb or do you want to shop?

Our service is designed for climbers with limited, valuable time. Since many flights arrive in Anchorage late at night, you can arrive and get a good night's sleep knowing that we'll help you take care of business the following morning. By that afternoon you could be in Talkeetna for your briefing, maybe even flying in to Base Camp. You could be starting your climb of Mt. McKinley just the day after we pick you up in Anchorage.

Support Package Details

Van Support - We'll pick you up at your hotel anywhere in Anchorage between 7 and 8 am on your support day. We'll use a vehicle sized for your team, most likely a 15 passenger van. The van and driver will be at the disposal of your team for 4 hours before departing for Talkeetna. (appox. 2 hour drive).

Food - Food is the fuel of a successful expedition. We provide tasty, mountain-tested ingredients to get you up the hill. A minimum of packaging. Highly organized and efficient "day packages" for breakfast and dinner supplemented with 5-day packs of things like spices, snacks and drinks so that you also have some variety and choice each day.

Most of the rations include standard supermarket items, combined into great tasting, balanced dishes that are easy to prepare. We also include a few pre-packaged commercial "de-hy" dinners. Quick and easy for those long, hard climbing days.

We plan for 2 - 2.5 pounds per person, per day. Depending on the time of year and the team.

We provide standard items that we know will do the job. We're not a custom planning service but we will be happy to work with your team to exclude some items due to preference or dietary restrictions.

We will also work with you to plan the food types and quantities to meet the needs of your climbing schedule. For example, slightly more involved and delicious meals down low...arrive at Advanced Base fit and fat! Simple, high-carb foods for the upper mountain, easier to prepare and easier to digest.

A list of our standard food items will be sent upon payment of your deposit.

Food is provided in tie-up plastic bags, clearly labeled and combined into 5-day bags. You will need to provide heavy-duty stuff sacks or duffle bags for carrying on the mountain.

This support package includes 15 days of food. Additional rations may be ordered in advance at $65 per 5 -day box per person.

Consulting - 3 hours consulting time via email or phone. This includes time spent answering emailed questions, researching these answers, making arrangements for lodging or your flight...however you want to use the time.

Please note that our support does not include any support or services after your climb. It's quite easy to arrange your return to Anchorage with a local shuttle service.

"In a nut shell, the food and support were wonderful! The time and anxiety we saved by having your team support us is difficult to measure, but definitely significant and probably huge."

Pete Manning - "Team Optimistic"
